I take over the entire filing for you – precise, on time and tax-optimised.

Get professional advice – so you can concentrate on the important things in life.

Tax obligations are often complex and time-consuming. Mistakes or omissions can lead not only to additional payments but also to unnecessary disputes with the tax office.

I take care of the careful preparation and optimisation of your tax returns and profit determinations as well as representation in objection and court proceedings.

This way you make sure you meet your tax obligations on time, legally secure and tax-efficiently.

Tax return

The tax return is not just a legal obligation but also an opportunity to use tax benefits and minimise your tax burden. I make sure all structuring options are exhausted and you pay no unnecessary (additional) taxes.

Your tax benefits at a glance:

  • Individual tax optimisation:
As part of the tax return, allowances, depreciation and further optimisations are used in your favour.
  • Avoiding errors and additional payments:
Correct and complete information ensures there are no nasty surprises later.
  • Digital & efficient processing:
Modern processes make collaboration easier and guarantee fast handling.

Profit determination

A correct income surplus statement (EÜR) is crucial for calculating your tax burden and for the economic management of your business.

How you benefit tax-wise:

  • Optimised profit determination:
Tax-saving structures are fully exploited for you.
  • Safe and compliant:
This way you avoid problems in a later audit.
  • Strategic reserve planning:
With forward-looking planning you optimise your liquidity and avoid tax surprises.

Objections and litigation

Not every tax assessment is correct. Wrong calculations or faulty notices can lead to unnecessary tax payments. I support you in consistently enforcing your rights against the tax office.

Your added value at a glance:

  • Review and substantiation of objections:
A well-founded objection helps you correct unjustified tax claims.
  • Representation in tax court proceedings:
If necessary, I accompany you through the entire court process and represent your interests in a legally secure way.
  • Timely and strategic approach:
With a targeted objection strategy we increase your chances of success.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does the term "declaration" mean in a tax context?

Declaration means the timely and complete submission of tax returns, tax filings or notifications to the tax office – e.g. income tax return, VAT advance return or determination return.

What deadlines apply for filing the tax return?

Generally until 31 July of the following year. With tax advisor representation the deadline is usually extended to the last day of February of the year after next (§ 149 AO). Late filing can result in surcharges.

What happens if I miss the filing deadline for my tax return?

The tax office can impose late-filing surcharges (§ 152 AO), coercive fines (§ 328 AO) and estimated tax assessments (§ 162 AO). Timely extensions avoid such sanctions.

What documents do I need for my tax return?

Typical documents are: payslips, bank statements, donation receipts, tradesman invoices, proof of income-related expenses, special expenses, insurance contributions, pension notices and capital income.

Do my tax return myself or hire a tax advisor?

In simple cases (e.g. without side income) the tax return can be prepared yourself – e.g. via ELSTER. For complex matters (e.g. letting, corporations, foreign matters) a tax advisor is recommended.

What tax obligations do I have as a self-employed person?

Self-employed persons must regularly file VAT advance returns, income tax returns and, where applicable, trade tax returns. Bookkeeping and, where applicable, balance-sheet obligations also apply depending on turnover and profit (§§ 140–141 AO).

How can I submit my tax return electronically?

Private individuals use ELSTER. Tax advisors generally file returns via DATEV or comparable systems. Third-party software (e.g. smartsteuer, WISO) is also possible.

What penalties apply for a late tax return?

Late-filing surcharges, coercive fines, estimated tax assessments or even investigations for tax evasion. The later the filing, the higher the potential sanctions – especially in the case of repeated default.

Can I correct my tax return afterwards?

Within the objection period (1 month) a correction is possible at any time. Afterwards only for "obvious errors" (§ 129 AO) or via amendment applications (§§ 172 et seq. AO).

Do I have to file a tax return or can I skip it?

Employees without side income are often not obliged to file. A voluntary return is often worthwhile, though (e.g. with income-related expenses above €1,200 or special expenses). Filing is mandatory for self-employed persons, landlords, capital income without tax deduction, etc.

How long does the tax office take to process the tax return?

Generally between 6 and 12 weeks, depending on complexity, region and workload. At peak times (e.g. July–September) it can take longer.

Which receipts do I have to submit with the tax return?

Receipts no longer have to be sent in – the duty to retain receipts applies. This means all evidence (e.g. receipts, donation certificates, invoices) must be producible on request by the tax office.

Which taxes do I have to declare regularly as an entrepreneur?

Depending on your activity: VAT, income tax or corporation tax, trade tax and payroll tax filings for employees. Additionally, where applicable, capital gains tax or inheritance tax.

Can I file a tax return retroactively?

Yes – so-called application assessments (e.g. for employees) are possible up to four years retroactively. Example: in 2025 you can still file the tax return for 2021.

How can I reduce my tax burden through smart structuring?

By making full use of income-related expenses (e.g. home office, training), special expenses (e.g. donations, church tax), extraordinary burdens (e.g. care costs) and targeted investments (e.g. in listed-building properties or photovoltaic systems).

What to do if the tax office rejects or corrects my tax return?

You can file an objection within one month of receiving the tax assessment. If the objection is rejected, an action before the tax court can be brought if necessary.

Does it make a difference whether I work with or without a tax advisor?

Yes. A tax advisor knows tax optimisation options, deadlines and pitfalls – especially for real estate, self-employment, foreign matters or business closure. They also handle communication with the tax office.

How long do I have to keep tax documents?

Private individuals: at least 4 years. Entrepreneurs: 10 years (invoices, bookkeeping, annual financial statements). Longer periods apply in cases of tax-criminal relevance or open tax audits.

Is a voluntary tax return really worthwhile?

In many cases yes – e.g. if income-related expenses, commuter allowance, special expenses or losses can be claimed. Refunds of several hundred euros are not uncommon.

What deadlines apply for objecting to a tax assessment?

An objection is possible within one month of the notice being announced. If this deadline is missed, the assessment becomes final – changes are then only possible under narrow conditions.

How does the loss carry-forward work in the tax return?

Losses (e.g. from letting, self-employment or share trading) can be offset against future profits – this reduces the tax burden. The application is made via the relevant annex in the tax return.

Which tax tricks are legal – and which are not?

Tax structuring is legal as long as it stays within the law. Concealing income, however, is tax evasion and can be a criminal offence.
